If you’re doing any kind of fiber arts I’m sure you’ve been seeing t-shirt yarn.

So easy and what a great way to use those tops that don’t fit, may have a stain, or in my case can’t donate because of the virus. Here’s one that was sitting in my car waiting for the day I could donate. The shirt barely fits on my desk but I wanted to show you how wrinkled it is! Just kidding but you should flatten it out before you cut.

I cut right under the arm pits straight across to the other. If there’s logos or pockets you may want to cut across below those. Also cut across the bottom hem and snip off tags

.

Now the next part is important and I didn't get a picture of it! You want to move the side seams so they are horizontal at the top and bottom. Then you're going to take the seam at the bottom and fold it up to about 2 inches below the top seam. At the bottom fold measure off every inch. I just roughly cut a mark but you may have a disappearing fabric marking pen. Cut up from your mark just enough that you cut through the lower seam.

Now you're going to unfold and bring the pieces down flattening the top hem area you're going to cut from the bottom half diagonally to the next cut.

Once you have made all the cuts and are ready to wind your yarn give a tug as you move the strips along and it will curl in looking more yarn-like. Now go find a new project to use it.
