Experiment in Rosemary Dye

Feeling encouraged with the success of my avocado dye I moved on to Rosemary as I have a large bush in my yard. Scouring the internet for tutorials I expected to be able to produce a yellow- green result.

Last time I did not keep track of my measurements and “cooking” time but this time I did and am glad because I will adjust those on the next go round. I will also decide about using alum which I don’t want to until I have a dedicated cooking set up.

I'll get right to the point. It came out looking like the yarns had sat in tea, a very light brown.
Luckily when reading about natural dyeing others warned it would be a lot of experimentation and a lot of browns. So I am not discouraged and will try again.

This last photo is cotton and the only fiber with a teeny tiny slight hint of green.
