Chamomile Natural Dyeing

Well I was pleasantly surprised!

A small shop in town has a wall of jars filled with herbs teas, etc. Times as they are you can no longer serve yourself but I happened to see this prepared package of chamomile. Just a little over a dollar!

Most dyeing instructions use weight to determine your measurements but since I don't have a scale I use cups. I placed one cup of dried chamomile flowers into two cups of water.

First use for a new rice cooker to be especially for my dyeing. I didn't pay attention and almost boiled it too long. I just added 3 cups of water over what was left in set in jar. I thought I had ruined it. I used a coffee filter in the strainer because it had such tiny fibers.

I was sure it would just be brown I just left it in the jar for an extra day, basically because I didn't want to see it.

Of course you've seen above it came out as yellow. Unfortunately I'm still having trouble getting the same color throughout the threads so I think I will have to use something other than the jar.
